Overview
The Energy Prices data service is composed of a main database and several datasets.
The Energy Prices database covers 148 countries in the world with weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly data for end-use prices. OECD countries data also contain details on the end-use prices taxation breakdown whenever available or applicable.
The regular frequency of update is the following:
- yearly for full database (by April);
- quarterly (March/June/September/December) for OECD countries.
- monthly for (but not limited to) transport data in selected countries.
Please refer to the availability files to check what combination of products/sectors/time/countries are included in each database.
Please note that the datasets are no longer available in IVT/B2020 format as of January 2025. A new online data platform has been made available to subscribers. As a result data are presented in a single table.
It is also noteworthy that the dataset Consumer and producer price indices, exchange rates and purchasing power parities has been discontinued in 2025.
Important licence information
Single user, multi-user or Enterprise?
Limited user licences (1 user, 5 users and 10 users) are appropriate as long as only the corresponding number of users can access or view the data.
If more than 10 users need to access or view the data, you should purchase an Enterprise licence. If these users are in different locations or part of a subsidiary or affiliate, you should purchase a Global Enterprise licence.
If you intend to put the data in a shared application, platform or system, you should purchase an Enterprise licence. A Global Enterprise licence is needed if users viewing or accessing the data/derived data are in different locations or part of a subsidiary or an affiliate.
Do I need a contract or permission?
If you are doing work for clients, i.e. third parties, you need to enter into a separate Agreement and pay a fee as this usage is not permitted under our standard terms and conditions.
If you intend to use the data in any type of modelling for the purpose of creating derived data or derived products, and any services to distribute or display such derived products you need to sign an Agreement and pay a fee.
The IEA reserves the right to check the customer’s compliance with the terms and conditions

Schedule
The package is made of several components updated with a distinct frequency: 1) Once a year (April) for complete global energy prices data. 2) Every quarter (March/June/September/December) for energy prices and taxes for OECD countries. 3) Every month for selected monthly and annual energy prices, depending on availability.
